England RFU senior squad back at Browns in preparation for the Autumn Internationals with all training geared towards the first test against Argentina on Saturday, 11th November.

Algarve Walking Football Cup
With perfect weather conditions Browns 3rd Algarve Walking Football Cup welcomed 20 teams from the UK and Portugal. Browns in Vilamoura created 3 five aside grass pitches and welcomed 200 participants with 80 games in two days. All games were competitive and played in the true spirit of walking football. The final was played by two local teams, Olhao A and Browns. Browns was leading 1 -0 in the 2nd half of the final match but the game changed dramatically in the final minutes as Olhao A made two goals in the few remaining minutes of the game securing them the winning position for the third year in a row. Later that evening the award ceremony recognized the skill and sportsmanship shown by all of the participating teams, best reflected in the forever young award presented to the oldest participant who was 78 years old.

Benfica Walking Football Team
On Tuesday 27th June, Browns Sports & Leisure Club in Vilamoura hosted the Walking Football teams of the Benfica Foundation who travelled down from Lisbon for the day to play several friendly matches against local Browns team on the 3G Pitch at Browns. The atmosphere was great, with participants ranging form early 50s to 93years old! An inspiration to all. Browns Walking Football Festival 2017
This weekend was buzzing at Browns with youthful seniors on the 3G AstroTurf competing to win this years edition of the Browns Walking Football Festival. Of the 10 participating teams from the UK and Portugal, team Clitheroe brought home the winning trophy and home team, Browns, managed to secure the Challenge Plate. Thanks to all participating teams! Algarve Rugby Festival 2017
Nottingham RU were in the Algarve to play against British Army RU in the annual Algarve Rugby Festival at Browns Sports & Leisure Club in Vilamoura. The 7th edition of the festival opened up with local U18 Loule Rugby versus Spanish opposition Instituto Britânico de Huelva Rugby Union. The senior game was a close one ending with a win for Nottingham Rugby, winning 43-31 against British Army. A beautiful day out, the side lines of the pitch were packed with spectators of all ages and nationalities getting an up-close view of top-class rugby while they enjoyed a cold drink from the pitch-side bars. In the first game, local talent won with Loulé Rugby winning by 17 points (final score 29-12).

DJURGÅRDENS IF training for The Atlantic Cup 2017
During this week Djurgården IF will be here at Browns, training for their debut in the 2017 edition of The Atlantic Cup. With 11 National Championship titles and 4 National Cup titles, they're competing in this pre-season winter tournament against Aalborg BK (Denmark), AGF Aarhus (Denmark), FK Jablonec (Czech Republic) and Örebro SK (Sweden).

The senior squad have returned to Browns training hard in preparation for the Old Mutual Wealth Series opener against South Africa next week. The squad have benefited from the new second grass playing field utilizing both pitches for skills training and game preparation , The Browns team have enjoyed in previous years hosting the Senior, U 20 and 7's squads. Netball Algarve Cup V
Five female netball teams from England and Spain participated in the fifth edition of Algarve Cup V at Browns. Despite the weather not being on our side, the tournament carried on and Marbella Team A managed to secure the winning trophy in a 13-11 final score against the Aztecs. Algarve Walking Football Cup 2015
The Algarve Walking Football Cup 2015 was a great success, with 10 participating teams from England and Portugal coming together on the 8th & 9th October on the 3G astroturf pitch at Browns. It was an intense round of twenty group games that produced winners and losers who then went into the knock-out stages of their respective Cup and Plate finals. The games were so close that most ended with “edge-of-your-seat” penalty finals. Congratualations to Soccer Olhanense Strollers for winning this years tournament! Argentina National team of Rugby, a.k.a "PUMAS" were at Browns for a five day training camp in preparation for the Rugby World Cup in England. The first game will be a very difficult one against the current world champions, New Zealand.

ISA CUP V at Browns Vilamoura
Over the weekend Browns hosted the 5th edition of the ISA CUP, for which 4 male teams and 5 women teams from international schools in Europe and Africa came to Browns for a 7-a-side football tournament. St Stephens School from Rome, Italy took home two trophies after winning both the male and female games! Browns thanks all the teams who participated ... Netball Algarve Cup & Aussie Rules Football
The ambiance at Browns over the weekend was thriving
The Netball Algarve Cup IV had 8 teams, who traveled over from various countries with this year's winning team coming from South Africa. After the weekend games, participating teams got together to enjoy a BBQ at Browns.
​ On the full size grass pitch, 9-a-side teams competed in the annual "AFL Europe/Browns 9´s Algarve". The majority of the participants are Australians living in various parts of Europe with the addition of Portuguese team, "Lisbon Dockers". The Kernahandles defeated last year's champions Flying Dutchman in the Final. The event ended with a price ceremony, a raffle and BBQ for all participants.
A fantastic atmosphere both on and off the playing field throughout the three days, Browns takes this opportunity to thank everyone who participated.

Browns LdV Tournament - Results
Hull City claimed winners of Browns LdV Tournament for the third year in a row! After a 0-0 draw at full time against Aberdeen on Friday 18th July, the game was won with yet another penalty shootout. The game played for 3rd and 4th place between Nath Boys and Portimonese earlier that day was won by Nath Boys with a 3-0 at full time.
​ Congratulations to all teams who participated this year. Each game was competitive right until the end with Aberdeen placing 2nd; Nath Boys in 3rd and Portimonese in 4th.

Louis Tomlinson at Browns in Vilamoura
Louis Tomlinson, one of One Direction singers, came to Browns to watch his team, Doncaster Rovers play against Huddersfield Town F.C.
A well-played competitive match, Louis thought it was incredible to watch his team in Portugal. After the game, he joined the team for lunch in the private team restaurant at Browns. 
Doncaster Rovers manager, Paul Dickov said that Louis is really enjoying being in the Algarve and that he thinks that Browns is a fantastic training camp for Doncaster Rovers.

Browns LdV Tournament - Result Update
The first two games of this year's Browns LdV Tournament have been very competitive, with both sides playing strong right until the very end.
The first game, Hull City FC vs. Portimonese, was won by Hull City at penalty shootout after a 2-2 result at full time.
The second game, Nath Boys vs. Aberdeen, was won by Aberdeen by yet another penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw at full time.
On Friday 18th July, Nath Boys and Portimonese will play for 3rd and 4th place. Kick off at 9:30am.
The final between Hull City FC and Aberdeen will take place later on that day at 6:15pm.

Grassroots to Professional Teams of all Sports
Donegal Gaelic Football team, Scottish Boxers in preparation for the Commonwealth Games, Athletics teams from Harrow and St. Paul's in England followed by U19 football teams ACCROSS and Cardiff City – April and May at Browns have been filled with diversity in sport type and level.
Coming up this weekend is the 4th edition of the Browns Corporate Cup with 5-a-side football teams from businesses across Portugal competing for this year's title.

Algarve Rugby Festival 2014
A 13-10 win for Krasny Yar vs. Leicester Tigers on Friday 11th April. A close score throughout the match, the Tigers were in the lead by only two points at half time (5-3) and after scoring another unconverted try in the second half, Krasny Yar soon caught up with a penalty and a converted try that brought them up the final score, 13-10.
Despite their defeat against Russian champions, the Tigers side, comprised mainly of academy players with exception of first-teamers Steve Mafi, Sebastian de Chaves and Terrence Hepetema, the Leicester Tigers enjoyed participating in the Algarve Rugby Festival. Algarve Rugby Festival 2014
A 26-22 win for British Army this Saturday 5th April. Krasny Yar set the game off with the first two tries of the game but British Army soon followed, ending the first half with a four point advantage (Half time score: 14-10). Twenty-three minutes into the first half, British Army was up 26-10. Krasny Yar managed to score 2 more tries and conversion bringing them up to a close final score of 26-22.

Sunday 20th Ocotber will be filled with another 5 games with Belmont vs. Belenenses (10:00); RHS vs. Belenenses (11:00); Belmont vs. CDUL (13:00); RHS vs. CDUL (14:00) and Belmont vs. Évora (15:30).
There will be another game on Monday, 21st October with RHS vs. Belmont at 16:00. All games are 20 minutes each way.

A Win for the Flying Dutchman
Australian Football teams from the Netherlands, Norway and Portugal participated in a 9-a-side tournament on Saturday at Browns. The teams Flying Dutchman, Oslo Crows and Lisbon Dockers were the first to have ever played an "Aussie Rules" game at Browns!
The Flying Dutchman won the final with a 58-27 win against the Oslo Crows.
After the final, the players all got together to enjoy a barbeque at Browns. It was a fantastic atmosphere both on and off the field throughout the three days.

Crystal Palace FC at Browns
Premier League new comers Crystal Palace chose Browns Training Resort for the pre-season training. The squad were in Portugal for a week-long pre-season training camp where they used all on-site facilities exclusively.

Fantastic final between Hull A.F.C and Nathaniels Boys FC. Winners for the second year in a row, Hull City A.F.C won on penalties after a 0-0 final draw. Played well by both teams, the game was entertaining from start to finish.

Doncaster Rovers FC won 2-1 against Portimonese S.C senior team yesterday.
Today the Portimonense S.C. U18 squad ended their game against East Fife F.C with a 2-2 draw. East Fife F.C were able to win with penalties, placing them in 3rd place in the Browns LdV Tournament 2013.
Hull City A.F.C and the Nathaniels Boys F.C will fight for this year's winning title at 18:30 tonight.

Championship team Yeovil Town FC return home after their training camp at Browns, where they prepared for the season ahead with sessions on the full-size grass pitch, in the Heavy Weight Gym and a pre-season friendly against local team Sporting Club Farense. Despite their disappointment in being defeated 2-0 in the away-game, the squad and staff reported having a successful time away.

The Portuguese National U20 Football Team chose Browns as their preferred training ground in preparation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2013 in Turkey. Ireland Women's Rugby Sevens squad had their warm weather training camp at Browns for the first time before going home to choose their 12 player squad for the London Invitational Sevens, where they won the plate final.
On the football front, a Vets football tournament was held at Browns with local and foreign teams on the full sized grass pitch. Quarteirense Vets lifted the cup with pride while the Italian team who came in second place were proud to have made Quarteirense's win difficult.
Shortly after the Vets tournament, a young U13 to U16 team from Scotland came for an intense week of training including games against three Portuguese teams.

Krasny Yar RC win Russian Cup 2013
Yesterday 9th May, Krasny Yar, the Russian rugby team who played in the Algarve Rugby Festival at Browns as part of their preparatory training camp this April won the Russian Cup 2013.

VILAMOURA CIRCUIT III
Saturday 18th May, Browns Sports & Leisure Club and McDonald's -Vilamoura will host the 3rd Edition of the Vilamoura Circuit. The 5.6km circuit will start at 9:00 from McDonald's in Vilamoura and will end at Browns.
After the circuit, Browns Health Club will have an OPEN DAY with fitness classes such as B.Combat, Zumba and Circuit Bootcamp open to all.
Promoting an active and healthy lifestyle for all, the circuit is open to everyone between 8-80 years of age. Participants can choose to walk, skip or run the circuit at their own pace.

Nigeria Wins AFCON
Congratulations to Nigeria for winning the African Cup of Nations for a first time since 1994! The Nigerian Super Eagles demonstrated their dedication and hard work during their 20 day training camp at Browns, during which they played multiple friendly fixtures including a game against a selection team of Catalunya, Rotterdam FC, Farense FC and the official international FIFA game against Cape Verde at the Algarve Stadium.

Suger Eagles win 5-0
The National Nigerian Football Team ended their training camp at Browns with a final warm-up game before the African Cup of Nations. Winning 5-0 against Portuguese second division side Farense in a friendly fixutre played at Browns yesterday, they now head to South Africa fully focused on the challenge up ahead. Their first game is scheduled for January 21st against Burkina Faso.

January Buzz
2013 has started off in full swing at Browns with Rugby and Football teams alike. Rugby teams including Sullivans Upper School, Oxford University and Wakefield Wild Cats trained hard in unbeatable January weather. With 17/18 degree weather, teams were able to intensify their training using all of Browns facilities including the outdoor pool! The National Nigerian Football team have also been training in the Algarve since late December and played an excellent game in Barcelona against Catalonia on 2nd January, which ended in a 1-1 draw. To top it off, yesterday's friendly fixture between Nigeria and Cape Verde, which was played at the Algarve Stadium and broadcasted all over Africa, was the first official international FIFA game Browns has arranged. We thank all involved and wish both teams the best of luck at the African Cup of Nations!

The Nigerian women's national U17 squad, the Flamingoes, had a two week training camp at Browns in mid-September with three competitive games against Spanish and Portuguese teams before heading to Azerbaijan for the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup. Hull City A.F.C wins Tournament!
Fantastic final played yesterday evening, with spectators on the edge of their seats throughout the whole game. Although the full time results was 0-0; the game proved to be a very entertaining one with impressive football played at both ends. The match had to go to penalties and Hull City A.F.C won the first eddition of Browns LdV Tournament on their 7th penalty. All teams then gathered around for the presentation of the trophies: Louletano D.C in 4th, Nath Boys in 3rd, Celtic F.C in 2nd and Hull City A.F.C in 1st. Nath Boys were on top of their game yesterday evening when they played against Louletano D.C in the Browns LdV Tournament 2012 playoff for 3rd and 4th place. Nath Boys won 2-0 , putting them in 3rd place followed by Louletano D.C in 4th. At 6pm this evening Hull City A.F.C will play Celtic F.C. in the final! The full size grass pitch will be competitive ground on the 22nd, 25th and 26th of July as four top U18 football clubs from Scotland, Nigeria, Portugal and England fight for the winning trophy of the first Annual Browns LdV Tournament! Browns LdV Tournament 2012 will kick off on Sunday 22 July with Hull City A.F.C vs Nath Boys(9:30am) and Celtic F.C vs Louletano F.C (6pm). The teams will then continue to play for 3rd & 4th place on Wednesday July 25th (6pm) and 1st & 2nd place on Thursday July 26th (6pm) . Vilamoura Circuit II & Browns Open Day
On Saturday 16th June adults, seniors, children and even pets ran, jogged or walked the 5.6km Vilamoura Circuit towards the finish line at Browns Sports and Leisure Club where an Open Day of activities were being held. A stage was set on the tennis courts for this special event, where Browns instructors conducted examples of the 40 weekly fitness classes offered at Browns. Over 60 people punched and kicked to the music for B.Combat, followed with some core excersies and balance with B Harmony. In the afternoon, people lounged by the outside pool, ate at the Sports Bar, or went to watch the volleyball tournament that was taking place on the sand pitch. Everyone soon got back onto the tennis courts for more with localizada, zumba and spinning classes. Marco, the winner of Peso Pesado (Biggest Loser) was also spotted enjoying the classes that helped contribute to his weight loss! It was a fantastic day out for family and friends. We look forward to hosting a bigger and better circuit next year! See you there!

A cricket tournament gathered much attention on the full sized grass pitch at Browns this weekend, where teams from Ireland and a local international team enjoyed their games in the warm Algarve sun. Vilamoura Circuit
After the positive response from the 2011 Vilamoura Circuit run, Browns Sports & Leisure Club will be teaming up with McDonald's Vilamoura to host this year's edition of the Vilamoura Circuit. The 5.6km circuit, which will be held on June 16th will be promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. The circuit will start at 09:00 at McDonald's and end at Browns where participants will be greeted at the finish line with water, gifts and supporting family, friends and spectators.

Northampton Saints
Northampton Saints enjoyed a four day training camp at Browns Resort. The saints travelled to Portugal the day after they defeated Exeter to win their place in the playoffs. The trip was focused on training and team bonding. The game after the camp was against Worcester Warriors in which they managed to also win by 42-14. Best of Luck for the upcoming season.

Netball Cosmopolitan Cup II
The netball court at Browns was competitive ground over the weekend. Teams from the UK and Portugal traveled to Browns to take part in this year's Netball - Cosmopolitan Cup II. Tournament games took place on Saturday, with the final taking place on Sunday where the Cherry Bombs and the Dot Com's met again. Both teams put up a good fight, but in the end the Cherry Bombs lifted the trophy. A special thanks to all the teams who participated in the Netball - Cosmopolitan Cup II. British Army vs Newcastle
Browns Sports Club hosted a magnificent friendly match between the British Army and Newcastle Falcons. Followed by Live Music at the Sports Bar & Restaurant, the event proved to be a highly successful one with a competitive result of 31-31 and over 400 expats joined us to enjoy watching some great rugby.
The Falcons started impressively strong and scored three early tries within 20 minutes. The Army however gradually tuned to the intensity of premiership rugby and scored two great tries to finish the first half on a high.
After the break the match grew in intensity, and the falcons were leading but England sevens international Isoa Damadamu made a telling impact for the Army after coming on as an interval replacement.
Damu cancelled out a Falcons try for 24 all, the Falcons re-took the lead through Dave Duffus, a player always on hand to provide the score, crossed and Cummings squared it at 31 points all.
A fantastic finish to a fantastic match that showed that a spirited Army side that grows stronger as the game proceeds and gave the Falcons a great preparation match for the upcoming challenging matches as the survival bid intensifies.

British Army vs GD Direito
On Saturday the 31st March, the Army played Portuguese club Champions GD Direito from Lisbon featuring a number of players from the national team squad. The practicing match played in three 30s proved to be a physical one among two spirited Rugby sides. Over 300 spectators joined us to enjoy some fast Rugby and some promising moves that proved to be very entertaining.

High Performance Gym Back in Place
In Less than 10 weeks of the isolated fire incident at the previous exterior gym, Browns built a new high performance gym with even more equipment than it had in the past. The new highlight is a 25m Astroturf Running Track and an additional 130m2 Wooden Deck going over the river bed for more options. The deck faces a newly created grass area that will be used for further training purposes. (Information Available Upon Request)

We are proud to host the National Team of Denmark and Japan for Women´s Football. The latter is here for the second year in a row after impressing in the previous World Cup by beating the hosts of Germany, Sweden, and the USA. This tour embarks on their preperation for the Algarve Cup 2012 Women Football Tournament.

Japan triumph at FIFA Ballon d’Or 2011
Browns would like to congratulate Japan Women´s National Football Team for their deserved recognition at FIFA Ballon d’Or 2011 for best players and coach award. Japan’s Homare Sawa claimed her first FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year award at the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala held at the Zurich Kongresshaus last week. Japan’s women’s national team coach Norio Sasaki was the winner of the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Women’s Football. The Nadeshiko, memorably claimed their maiden FIFA Women’s World Cup with a thrilling performance, twice coming back from behind to eventually defeat the USA on penalties after extra time.

RFU U20s Successful Camp
RFU U20s squad enjoyed a four day intensive training camp at Browns. Hard work and team bonding were key components to a successful warm weather camp. Browns would like to wish the team a successful season begining with defending their six nations grand slam title.

Browns Assembles Exterior Gym in 24 hours as Outside Gym is damaged by isolated fire incident


Browns outside high performance gym suffered serious damage in a fire on Sunday 11th December. This wooden construction was isolated away from any accommodation and the main areas of Browns. The next day a temporary 150 sq metre gym was erected and installed with suitable equipment next to the damaged area in time for usage by the England Under 20 squad who arrived Sunday. A new High Performance Gym is scheduled to be built and all new equipment installed before the end of January 2012. Browns wish to thank all the local companies (especially Oceanico who loaned the Gym equipment) and our own staff for their assistance in our time of need to recover from this situation.

New Record - 46 Fixtures in October
In October, Browns organised a total of 46 fixtures in various sports. 30 Alone where for Rugby Schools from UK, Europe, and South Africa. This has broken the previous record of 32 fixtures of October 2010.

British Army - World Champions
Browns would like to congratulate the British Army for winning the International Defence Rugby Competition in New Zealand and Australia. Once again the Army proved their metal by performing magnificently beating every opposition through hard work and dedication.
We had the pleasure of hosting the ARU Senior Team this year organising two competitive fixtures. One was against the Portuguese National Side in which more than a thousand fan showed up to cheer for their respective team.

Ireland’s paracycling double world champion Mark Rohan ended a 10 day training preparation at Browns taking advantage of the facilities onsite and the surrounding landscape that were ideal for H1 Training. Joined by colleague and friend Enda Smith competing for C3 biking preparation.

International Sports Tour
During the period of 12 days, Browns organised 36 fixtures for 146 Atheltes from South Africa divided into the three sports of Rugby, Hockey, and Netball for U19, U16, U15, U14. In addition to the grassroots groups we had this July, Browns had the pleasure of also hosting Aberdeen, Bath Rugby, Gloucester Rugby, and Nigeria U20 in the month of July. The latter chose an 11 day camp for their preparation for the U20 world Cup in Colombia and they managed to kick off the tournament with a 5-0 win against Guatemala. Ballymun Best Barr´s
Browns hosted Ballymun Kickhams in June for an intensive training camp. The following month the team won the All-Ireland Féile which is the biggest competition in the country for youth GAA- there are 8 divisions and they have won div 1 which is the highest standard. As quoted in the Irish Examiner ´´THREE days of intensive training under the blue skies of Portugal paid a handsome dividend for Ballymun Kickhams who saw off the challenge of St Finbarr’s in the Division 1 final of the Bus Eireann Féile Peile final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday...´´

The World Champions were Here!
Congratulations to Japan for winning the Women´s World Cup 2011 in Germany after defeating the heavy weights of Sweden, Germany, and USA. In March Browns welcomed the Japanese National Women’s football team for a 12 day training camp for their pre-season training. This year is the first time Japan has been invited for the Algarve Cup, therefore due to the new appearance they chose the exclusive use of our facilities. Japan played 4 official matches and 2 friendly fixtures held at Browns against Romania and China during their 12 days stay.
